Kathleen R. Kemp

Kathleen R. Kemp, age 91 of Hobart, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009. She is survived by 5 children: Robert Cynthia Mundell of Valparaiso, Marcia Snyder of Houston, TX, William Jolene Mundell of Valparaiso, Susan Robert Simpson of Merrillville and Melissa Kenneth Dike of Acworth, GA & Golden, CO; 13 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; 1 brother, John Shirley Walter of Hallsville, TX; 1 sister, Mary Thomas Hockman of Detroit Lakes, MN and many dear nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Harmon A. Kemp; parents, James & Kathryn Walter; 2 brothers: Thomas and Charles Walter; 1 sister, Helen Pillman; 1 son-in-law, Jeffrey Wilkie; 1 granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Wilkie; and 1 dear niece, Karen Kirchner. Prayers will be said on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 9:30 AM at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, 200 E. 78th Ave., Merrillville. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, September 23rd from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. Wake service Wednesday at 6:00 PM. Kathleen was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, the Ladies Guild ARC Group, and Sigma Alpha Gamma since 1936. She was a 1936 graduate of Hobart High School and also graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business College in Chicago.
