KAREN BLOCKER, age 74; a lifelong resident of Crown Point, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014. Survived by sister Cheryl (late Dennis) Demmon; two nieces: Sarah Demmon of Indianapolis, Jamie (Dean) Ricci of Hebron; two great-nephews: Nick & Nate Ricci, all of whom she enjoyed greatly. Preceded in death by parents Wilbur & Virginia Blocker. Karen was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Crown Point and a past member of the church choir. She was a graduate of Merrillville High School, Class of 1957 and then received her B.S. Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, where she was also a member of the ZTA Sorority. She received her Library Certification from I.U.N. and worked for the Gary Public Library with 42 years of service. She also worked as the Bookmobile Librarian. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, and served many years as a 4-H Leader and was a past-superintendent of the Lake County Horse and Pony 4-H. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little (811 East Franciscan Dr., Crown Point) on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (250 S. Indiana Ave., Crown Point) with Rev. Lothar Thoelke & Rev. David Kipp officiating. There will be visitation at the church one half hour prior to services. Cremation will follow services. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
