Joyce grew up in North Dakota, where she managed a small creamery and had her own half-hour radio show on KOVC. She moved various times before settling in Chicago where she met her love, Hillard Wysock. They began their life together there before finally settling in Merrillville, IN. There they raised their family of four children in the loving neighborhood of Jackson St. where she made many life-long friends. She lived there for over 60 years before joining her daughter in Plainfield, IL.
She was a faithful member of St. Peter & Paul Parish in Merrillville for over 60 years, where she helped prepare and serve countless meals to the school children who remembered her fondly as “The Cookie Lady.” She was also a member of some of the parish ministries including the Rosary Sodality and the church choir for which she held a special passion and always had a song in her heart.
You may join in a remembrance of her life at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Friday from 2:00-8:00 P.M.
