JOSEPH P. BUDNER, age 77, of Hebron passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side Saturday March 23rd, after a short battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Poland and raised in Germany until he was 16 years old when he came to Indiana. He retired from the Budd Co. after 40 years of service and the Merrillville School System where he retired after 12 years of service. Most recently he was the grounds and maintenance care taker at Salvatorian Fathers Monastery in Merrillville. Member of the PNA lodge. Preceeded in death, by his parents Izydor and Jozefina Budner and step- mother Zofia Budner; father and mother- in-law, Stanley and Ewa Tokarz; sister Helen Rejmer; brother Frank Budner; brother-in-laws Stefan Rejmer, Stanley Kolodziejczak, Bernard Tarnowski, Leon Tokarz, and John Tokarz. Survived by loving wife Genevieve (Jan) Budner (nee Tokarz); sons: Bob (Dorene) Budner of Paw Paw, Michigan and Joe (Angela) Budner of Valparaiso; daughters Elizabeth (Roger) Briggs of Hebron and Bernadette (Bill) Durall of Crown Point; grandchildren Matthew, Daniel (Heather), and David Budner; Tommy (T.J.) Budner, Jeremy, Andrew and Michael Briggs; Faith, Timothy, Nicholas and Nicole Durall; sister Janina Kolodziejczak of Kouts; brother Kazimierz (Helena) Budner of Crown Point; sister-in-laws Celia Pollard, Marianne Caplan, Barbara (Jim) Provci, and Helen Tarnowski; and many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Monday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 3:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 A.M. from Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine (5755 Pennsylvania St., Merrillville) with Rev. Lukasz Kleczka S.D.S. and the Salvatoria Fathers Community officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Salvatorian Father’s Monestary.
