JOSEPH OZUG

JOSEPH J. OZUG, age 87 of Merrillville, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Teresa, who he married on March 8, 1947; six children: Mary (John) Milling, Joe Ozug, Frank J. (Carol) Ozug, Irene (Rick) Hartline, Cathy (Rick) Shirley, John J. (Wendy) Ozug; 18 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann (Joseph) Steininger. Preceded in death by grandchildren: Michael Milling, Paul Michael Hartline; sisters: Anna Nedoff, Helen Yuraitis; parents, Antonina and John Ozug. Joe was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Merrillville and a former member of Sacred Heart Church. He was a K of C 3rd Degree member of Msgr. Ryder Council #4047, a life member of VFW Post 1563, American Legion Post #289, and DAV Post #80. Joe was a WW II and Korean War veteran. He retired from the U.S. Post Office. Joe was the proprietor of Ozug Real Estate. He was a graduate of Tolleston High School, Class of 1944. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville, on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m., a combined VFW/American Legion service at 6:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 DIRECTLY from St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 801 W. 73rd Ave., Merrillville, with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating. There will be one half-hour of visitation at the church prior to services. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
