Joseph M. Getautas III, age 50, of Hebron, IN, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Michelle Getautas (nee Watson); children: Abigail (Trent) Fortson, Amber Getautas, Kandice Getautas; step-sons: Cameron Porter and Zachary Porter; and sisters: Gail (Bruce) Wierzgacz, Paula (Jesse) Winebrenner, Judy (John) Steel; 13 nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Paula Getautas (nee Abbate).

Joseph was an exhibits carpenter at G.E.S. for 17 years. He was a member of Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Local 10. Joseph enjoyed building and fixing computers, hosting or attending LAN parties, and the Chicago Bears. He also was an avid video game player. Even though Joseph grew up on the south side of Chicago rooting for the White Sox, Michelle turned him into a Cubs fan.
Joseph will be dearly missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Geisen Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN, 46341 from 2:00 PM until the time of memorial service at 4:00 PM.

My prayers and sympathies go out to the entire Getautas family. My heart broke when I heard of Joey's passing. I too have been a longtime friend of the family and remember Joey as being funny, smart, handsome and a lover of heavy metal music! I can still hear Metallica blasting from the bathroom when he showered, lol! Judy or Paula, I don't have your numbers anymore and I'm not on social media so call or text me please! I have fond memories of growing up in the Getautas household. I met Joey when I was in 3rd grade when they moved to Alsip and I became friends with his sister my dearest friend Judy. A short time later I introduced Joey to my brother David and they were childhood friends for many years. I always thought of Joey growing up as my little brother part of my family. He always had a smile and was so intelligent when it came to electronics. He was always a wonderful person. I was so sad to hear the news today of his passing.
