JOSEPH JOHN PAVELL, Sr. age 58 of Crown Point, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015. Survived by his young boys that he loved whole heartedly: Joseph John Pavell, Jr. and Thomas Michael Pavell; his ex-wife & forever friend Jennifer (nee Glavin) Pavell; his step-children whom he loved and raised as his own: Amy Lynne (Michael) Gardner and Richard (fiance Jacklyn Heldt) Smith – “Joe will be dancing in Heaven at their October wedding;” his precious granddaughter Lyla Mae Gardner – “Joe called her his “baby doll.” She was a beautiful light in his life and she will miss her Papa’s hugs & kisses.” Also surviving are his sister Anna (Daniel) Padberg; brother Michael (Lori) Pavell; many loving nieces & nephews; several loving in-laws; his special aunt Margaret Johnson; and his special father-in-law Thomas Glavin. Preceded in death by parents Mike & Anna and brother Milan Pavell. Joe was a member of Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church in Merrillville, he had a very strong faith in his Lord. He had worked for Teibel’s Restaurant for 42 years, starting when he was 13 and becoming the Executive Chef for 30 years. He was a graduate of Lake Central High School, Class of 1974 and Indiana State University, Class of 1978. He had taught Wood Shop at Merrillville High School for a couple of years. Woodworking was one of Joe’s true passions, along with golfing, cooking, and eating “great food.” Joe loved his family and he is loved and missed by all. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. DIRECTLY from Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church (7950 Marshall St., Merrillville) with Rev. Richard Boshoven officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to services.
