JOSEPH “JIM” WALTERS, age 76 of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017.

Survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy (nee Burch); three children: Amy Walters, Greg Walters, and Kelly Walters; sister-in-law, Narda Walters; several nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Brady, Sophie and Tiki. Preceded in death by brother, Frank and sister, Nancy Zavada; parents, Frank and Irene.

Jim was a graduate of Tolleston High School, Class of 1958, the University of Notre Dame with a BA in 1967, and Indiana University with a Masters Degree in 1974. He was a retired data processor for several companies. Jim was an Army veteran. He authored “There’s No ‘I’ in Lucky, But There’s One in Stupid.”

Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral service will follow promptly at 6:00 pm. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Michael Maginot officiating. Services to conclude at the funeral home with cremation to follow.
