JOSEPH J. SETLAK age73 of Merrillville passed away at home with his family at his side Wednesday June 11 2008. Survived by beloved wife Sally (nee Drakulich) of 46 years 3 cherished children: Ursula Babac of Crown Point Alissa Setlak of Chicago &amp Anthony (Marisol) Setlak of Winfield 5 grandchildren: Nikola Sofija Alyssa Ariana &amp Alexander sisters-in-law Stephanie (late Alexander) Setlak of Merrillville Mary (late Walter) Setlak of Valparaiso nieces &amp nephews. Preceded in death by parents Albert &amp Magdalene Setlak brothers: Alexander Bruno &amp Walter and sister Stephanie Monahan. Mr. Setlak was a retired electrician from Merchant Mill Gary Works U.S. Steel with 21 years of service and a former employee of the Anderson Co. Joe was a graduate of Emerson High School a decorated Vietnam Army veteran with the 1st Infantry serving 16 years in the service and a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1563 and American Legion Post #430. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville on Sunday from 2-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M. and a Legion service at 6:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held Monday June 16 2008 at 12 Noon from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 12:30 P.M. from SS. Peter &amp Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Teles officiating. Services will conclude at church with cremation to follow. Im so sorry to hear about your dad. I know it is a hard time for you guys and your in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry I didnt know sooner to pay my respects.Take care. I hope everyone is well.

I have always wondered how to say good bye to the loved ones we lose the ones we hold so dearly in our hearts I sit here and remember all the times i shared with Joe and the talks he was so much more to me than a friend he was a father to me he always listened to me and always gave me right responsive he never once lied to me or pulled punches with me i have so many memories of him and i will miss him more than words can say Joe you will always be in my heart for always and a day you thought me so many things and i will always remember that i love you Joe for the family i am so sorry for your loss you had a wonderful husband sally and a wonderful father. I am so sorry i could not be their but he was in my heart each passing day and each passing day that i live the rest of my life. If tears could build a stairwell and memories were a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again. No farewell words were spoken no time to say good-bye You were gone before I knew it and only God knows why. My heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow What it means to lose you no one will ever know. Love you all

i grew up liveing next door to joe and his familyme and joe had alot of good times together and i learned alot of things from joejoe had a good hearta good manjoe use to show me his slides from when he was in viet nam and it use to bring him old memorieswhen i was a teenager-joe was the coolest person i knewand use to tell me that you cant fool an ole fooli remember when someone stole joes black thunderbirdthey called him up and said it was at a tow yard in garywe both went down there and the car was still on the back of the tow truck and they were taking joes radio out of the carthey said this your caryou shoulda seen joe saying ya...to ersyally and tonyyou had one good dadand to sallywe will all miss joe deeply but we will all remember him always
