JOSEPH G. HEIN SR., age 82 of Crown Point; formerly of Merrillville, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018.
He survived by son, Joseph Hein Jr.; brother, Babe (Vern) Hein of Leroy; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Fleming and Tammi (Mike) Carjia; brother-in-law, Jack (Alice) Fleming; special friends, Katheryne Pavey and Don Franz; and many special nieces and nephews, and school mates . Preceded in death by wife, Lynn (nee Fleming) Hein in 2012 of the Horace Mann district; brother, Edward Hein in 1980; parents, George and Matilda (nee Seeberger) Hein.
Joe was a graduate of SS. Peter & Paul grade school and graduate of Merrillville High School, class of 1954. While attending SS. Peter & Paul, he was an altar boy and sang in the choir. Joe owned and operated Quality Motors for twenty years and was employed at Fran’s Auto for ten years. He was employed eight years at Merrillville High School as a swimming attendant and school bus driver. Joe was an Army Veteran, a friend of the Lake County Animal Shelter, a member of the Elks, an usher at St. Stephens the Martyr Catholic Church, and Catholic Order of Foresters for 75 years.
Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service (811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point) on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 28 at Pruzin & Little Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with one hour visitation prior to funeral service with Rev. James Wozniak officiating. At rest, Calumet Park Cemetery. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society or St. Stephen the Martyr Men’s Club.
