JOSEPH MISICKO, formerly of Whiting and Highland, Indiana left this world for his heavenly home on May 14, 2015 and has now discovered the mysteries of life. He was surrounded by his ever present loving and caring family. He is now with our Lord and Savior in Heaven. Joe was born to Joseph and Stephanie Misicko in East Chicago, IN on September 4, 1934. He attended South Side Elementary School and graduated from Whiting High School in 1954. He was an Army veteran who served in Germany and Lebanon for two years, 1957-1959. Joe was emplyed in the Shipping Department of LTV Steel for 43 years and retired in 1996. Joe and his wife, Jeanette Sciotto were married on December 14, 1963 and renewed their marriage vows September 4, 2004 on Joe’s 70th birthday. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Merrillville and volunteered many hours of service as all around handy man and pirohi pincher. Joe traveled extensively around the world visiting 35 countries, and most of the United States with his wife, Jeanette. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and he was extremely proficient at building and handyman projects. He was a good, kind, and God loving man who was friends with everyone who met him and he will be dearly missed by everyone he knew. Surviving to mourn Joseph’s passing, while he waits for them in Heaven, is loving wife: Jeanette; three devoted children: Rebecca (George) Tutto, Cynthia (James) Kleinmeyer, and Joseph P. (Susan) Misicko; three cherished and much loved grandchildren: Mitchell Misicko, Matthew Tutto, and Emma Misicko. Joe is also survived by his devoted sister-in-law: Mary Anne (late John) Nuss; caring and loving niece: Cheryl (Robert) Balczo; nephew: Eric (Kellie) Nuss and their wonderful children: Jeffrey (Ashlyn), Jonathan (Kristen), Samuel (Madison), Sara, and Evan; Aunt: Sue (George) Yonan; sister: Shirley Yurkanon and her children: Jimmy, Anne Marie, and Michael; as well as many dear nieces nephews, cousins, and friends. Waiting to greet him in Heaven are his parents: Joseph and Stephanie Misicko; brother: William Misicko; brother-in-law: John Nuss; and in-laws: Pete and Kate Sciotto. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 P.M. with a Parastas service at 3:00 P.M. Funeral liturgy will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 A.M. from St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church (557 W. 57th Ave., Merrillville) with Rev. Basil Hutsko officiating. At rest, Condordia Cemetery, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution my be given to St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Merrillville or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
