John “Skip” C. White, Jr.

December 14, 1950 - January 5, 2010

John C. “Skip” White, Jr., age 59, of Michigan City, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at his home in Michigan City. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, with full military rites conducted by American Legion Skwiat Post 451. He was born December 14, 1950 in Michigan City to John C. White Sr. and Lois M. (Brown) White and Ann (Blamey) White. His father survives in Michigan City. On July 4, 1997, in LaPorte, he married Kathleen Reuber, she survives in Michigan City. Also surviving are his children Douglas (Amber) White and Jennifer (Bradley) Enos, both of Phoenix, Nicole M. (Mark) Messacar of LaPorte, Justin (Casey) Kintzele of Mishawaka and many special grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and sister Linda (Richard) Jasicki of LaPorte. He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine White. John had been a salesman with Team Honda. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of American Legion Skwiat Post #451 and Loyal Order of Moose #980. He loved all of his family. He took delight in his grandchildren. He also loved perch fishing, and all of his friends on the 800 dock. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.

Kathy i didn't know you, but i worked for Skip from 1988 to 1994. We had good times. He was a wonderful man and a great Boss. Sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

I am saddened to hear about Skip. Our family had a couple of great summers with Skip and you kids when he coached Trail Creek T-ball. I can still see and hear him running down the baseline yelling, "Don't look at that ball." Good times! Lots of laughs!

I went to school with Skip and before I left Michigan City, he was one of the last person I met to say "goodbye" to at the old Volkswagen Store. His sense of humor was beyond reproach, his kindness to others was emorable and his friendship, although miles apart, was accepted with appreciation. May you rest in peace Skip and may your memory be an everlasting blessing to those who knew you.

To the White family, you have my deepest sympathy. Christine and Skip are now at peace.

Three years ago this month, Skip sold me my first Honda, an Accord. He was great -- showed me the car, told me everything about it, really worked the deal. The thing that sold the car was his dedication to Meals on Wheels and how he told me it was so important to him. Great guy -- and I always sent friends/family over to see him if I knew they wanted a Honda too. Godspeed, Skip.

Family & friends, I've known Skip since jr. high and was shocked to hear of his passing. Although we didn't cross paths very often he always found a minute to talk and share a laugh. Uncle skipper always had a loving heart, and always made me feel so much love from him. From the time I was born, and the photo's of him holding me, to the photo's of me as a flower girl at his wedding (I still have the dress) to playing in his office at John White's honda- vlkswgn, going camping with him and his kids- Doug and Jenni, and playing at the beach, and swimming at pot. country club, the loving memories have been flooding my thoughts since learning of his passing, my sympathies to all his family, and a special sympathy for my Grandpa (john Sr.)White, my Mom(Linda), and my 1st cousins- Doug and Jenni. I am very sorry to hear of Skip's passing;I was in shock. You know the kind of people you meet for the first time and feel they've been your friend for a long time? That was Skip. I first met him when I went into Team Honda to look at purchasing a car in April. Being recently on my own , shopping for a vehicle for myself was made much easier by Skip who seemed to take me under his wing, you could say. He was a very trustworthy man and I knew I could rely on him to help me make the right decision about my purchase. His patience and kindness was important and truly geniune; he cared about each and every "friend" (not customer) that walked into the place. I would often stop in to Honda to say hello and have a coke or popcorn and a short visit to show my thanks to him for being not just "the salesman" but the guy who made me feel that friendships are so important. He was such a "people person". Team Honda will not be the same without Skip. He will be truly missed.

I will always remember Skip as a great cousin and friend, a fun loving guy with a great sense of humor. I wish we could be there at this time. He will be greatly missed.

We bought our first Honda from Skip in 2003 right after we got married.Last March we bought another Honda from Skip.We were saddened to hear of his passing.He was a very nice man and did everything he could to help us get a good deal.He will really be missed.Our hearts go out to his family.Sincerely Ricky and Kay Ford
