John Visclosky, age 101 of Crown Point, formerly of Gary, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017.
He is survived by three children: Valerie Segovia, Annamarie (Russell Williams) Visclosky, and Peter (Joanne Royce) Visclosky; three grandsons: Matthew (Kendra) Segovia, John (Amanda Vaughn) Visclosky and Tim (Cate McCraw) Visclosky. Preceded in death by wife Helen Visclosky of 63 years: three sisters: Elizabeth DeVault, Mary O’Donnell, Margaret Somson; and brother George Visclosky.
Mr. Visclosky was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Crown Point and a member of the K of C Msgr. Ryder Council #4047. John was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, a World War II Navy veteran, and member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was a past Mayor of Gary, and served as a City Controller. John also belonged to the FDR Democratic Club of North Hammond and was a member of the Iron Workers Local #395.
Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Monday April 3, 2017 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY from St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 E. Joliet St. Crown Point, with Rev. Pat Kalich officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either The Carmelite Home for Girls or to St. Anthony Home in Crown Point.
