John Powenski, age 82 of Michigan City, formerly of Crown Point, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018.
John is survived by his three children: Donald Powenski, Richard (Missy) Powenski, and Jeffery Powenski; grandchildren: Amanda, Scott, Zachary, and Haley Powenski; great-grandchildren: Austin, Brooke, and Morgan; “best-friend” Cujo.
He is preceded in death by wife Patricia Ann; parents, John and Violet Sayka; grandparents, John and Magdelin Powenski.
John retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service. He was a member of F&AM Lake Lodge 157, the Eastern Star, and American Legion Post #357. John was a Vietnam War Veteran and was a graduate of Froebel High School. He was the former owner of Yankee Emporium.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm., Friday, June 8, 2018 from Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 E. Franciscan Dr. (south of St. Rd. 231 on St. Rd. 55), Crown Point. There will be one half-hour of visitation prior to services. Burial will follow at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery.
