John M. Waldo, age 76, of Michigan City, died Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Regency Hospital, Portage, IN. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home, with Rev. Curtis Southwood officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Mr. Waldo was born December 31, 1932 in Michigan City to Francis M. and Ethel “Ruth” (Gardner) Waldo, both of whom preceded him in death. On Dec. 8, 1956 in Michigan City, he married Ruth E. Krumkowski, she passed away Nov. 28, 1997. Surviving are his daughters Brenda Waldo and Tina (Randy) Kowalski, one extra special grandson Brandon Wilkerson, sisters Ethel Shepperson and Jeanette Lane, both of Michigan City, and brother William Waldo of Huntsville, AL. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lillian Babcock, Ruth L. Pecket, and twin brothers Clyde and Clarence Curley, Frank, Bud, Bob, Edwin and Don Waldo. Mr. Waldo had been retired from Enamel Products and Plating after 25 years of service as a supervisor. He was the owner of Waldo Construction Co. for 35 years. John was a natural entertainer having companioned with his best friend Al Mansfield providing comic relief with their many skits. He also loved singing and playing his guitar.
