John H. Nuno, age 95, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

John is survived by his children: Jeanmarie (David Sheldon), John T. Nuno, Joseph M. Nuno, and Georgia Nuno; grandchildren: Heather Emmons, Rachel Nuno (Ryan Lewis), Kaylee Kilgore, Jonah NunoSheldon, Shelby Kilgore, and Ashley O’Donnell; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Matt, Avery, and Molly; great-greatgrandchildren: Miles, Raylee, and Blaiklei; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Josephine; parents: Vincent and Consuelo Nuno; and siblings: Henry, Tarco, and Peter.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 7 years. He worked as a Steel Worker for Wisconsin Steel and after his retirement, served as a Cook County Sheriff for 12 years. John was a collector of many things, his favorites being memorabilia of the Chicago Bears, music, Disney, and movies. He was a loving and caring father, Pop-e, devoted husband, great provider, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Prayers will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 9:15 AM. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 101 w. Burrell Dr., Crown Point, IN 46307. Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in John’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
