John F. Berens , age 60, of John F. Berens , age 60, of Hebron, IN., formerly of Crown Point, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN He is survived by his wife Linda Son: John Jason Berens of Hebron Mother: Florence Berens of Crown Point Sister: Eileen Keith Klawes of SC Brother: Thomas Dale Berens of Hebron Mother-in-law: Jean Schreiber of Hebron Sisters-in-law: Kimberly Earl Baston & Leann Raymond Benninger Nieces & Nephews He was preceded in Death by his Father: Francis Berens Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 11:00 AM DIRECTLY AT St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with Fr. David Gosnell officiating, Services will conclude at the church with cremation to follow. Friends may call at Geisen Funeral Home, 109 N. East St., Crown Point on Friday, January 23, 2004 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday morning, January 24, 2004 from 10:00 AM to 11: 00 AM at the Church. Mr. Berens was a member of St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church & Catholic Order of Foresters. He retired from Bethleham Steel Corporation with over 36 years of service. He was an army veteran of Vietnam. John belonged to the Northwest Indiana Historical Power Association. He enjoyed working along with his son on their Hobby Farm and also showed antique tractors together. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Mayo Clinic Neurological Research.

To Linda and John, my heart aches for both of you.I am so sorry for your loss. ALthough I only saw John at the NIHPA show,I quickly saw that he was a very special person. His love of working with son John on tractors was visable to anyone who saw the two of you together. John was a man of honor, intergrity, a hard worker, and someone who loved his family with all of his heart. He was a great friend to all that knew him. I know that the last few years have been hard on the family, but I believe god has a plan for everyone, even if we on earth question the path to heaven. For myself and those at NIHPA, John will never be forgot. His memorial will live on in the things he has taught his son. I have watched John grow up over the past years with his involvement with NIHPA and hope to continue to be able to see him grow. I, along with other members of NIHPA consider John to be like one of our own kids, and he and Linda with always be part of the NIHPA family. We now have an angel in heaven wathching over all of us. To Linda and little John I am so sorry for you great loss. If you need me just call anytime. To John,I really enjoyed talking to you about country life, tractors, animals and hearing your insite on life. You and I saw things somewhat different and I was facinated to here your side of a story. Brandon will always remember riding on your tractor in the parade at the steam shows.
