John E. Hodorek

JOHN E. HODOREK age 50 of Merrillville passed away on Thursday February 23 2012. He is survived by his mother Louise Hodorek of Merrillville sister Karen (Dan) Blann of Bloomington IN companion Debra Bieker of Crown Point daughter Jayme (Josh) Powell and grandson Ian Powell both of Reedsburg WI nieces and nephews Molly McCoy Jesse and Ryan Blann and his beloved dog Jake. Preceded in death by father Edward J. Hodorek. John and his companion Debra were the co-owners of American Military Surplus in Crown Point. He was a graduate of Merrillville High School Class of 1979. John was a commercial saturation diver and was a diver with the Lake County Sheriffs Department. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1981-1998 during Operation Desert Storm and was honorably discharged as an E-6. He was a current member of the U.S. Power Squadron and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary #3302. John was a volunteer with the Ross Township Fire Department Station #4. John was an avid pilot and boater loving anything to do with the water. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway Merrillville) on Sunday February 26 2012 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday February 27 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pruzin Brothers Chapel. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville.
