John E. Fredette, age 85, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his home.

John is survived by his children: Steven (Christine) Fredette and Lisa L. (Charles) Cook; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his wife: Sandra “Sandy” Fredette of 43 years; parents: Albert and Noreen Fredette; step-father, Murray Cooper; brothers: Albert and Thomas; and sisters: Mary and Elizabeth.

John was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Eucharist Coordinator at the Eucharistic Chapel in St. John, IN. Secular Franciscan with the Little Portion Fraternity in Valparaiso, IN. He was a Field Engineer for General Electric, member of the Crown Point Electrical Board, an avid Cubs fan and a volunteer Fire Fighter in Slingerlands, NY. John was very devoted to his faith and family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 10701 Olcott Ave., St. John, IN 46373 from 8:30 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.

My condolences to the family. John was not only an excellent Engineer, but an all-around nice person that was always willing to mentor and help those in need. I was one of the lucky new GE Engineers that experienced his leadership and kindness shortly after graduating college. He helped transform me from a know-it-all individual to an actual useful person, and Engineer. He will leave a huge void when the monthly GE retiree lunches resume. Rest in Peace my Friend. Heaven has just gained a wonderful Soul.
