I just returned back to work today and just learned about Joel. I worked with Joel at North American. He was THE guy I always sought out for my computer issues even when I was not supposed to because he could always fix the problem and it allowed me to visit with him. He was a wonderful guy and friend and I will miss talking with him and hearing his soft spoken voice and seeing his bright smile and asking me What did you do now? My deepest condolences to his family and I will keep him and his family in my prayers. May God give you strength during this painful time.

Hi Becky, Sorry to hear about your lose. We all had some great times together. I sometimes wish we had more of them. It's always good to have old friends around to remind each other of the good times we had. I'll never forget the ones I had with Joel all the years I've known him. The best one I can think of right now, is I know neither of us thought we could keep his 1962 chevy Impala, with a high performance 396, running with a pair of pantyhose. Boy, we got some big laughs from that. Don't forget God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy. My prayers will be with you and your family. Sincerely Johnny Haese

It was a sad and unbelievable call when I heard the news of Joel's passing. The moments I will remember the most are our trip's to Minni-Haha as Joel would say. We kept each other awake and alert on countless trips and in all kinds of conditions. There wasn't anything that I could say that Joel wouldn't find something to laugh about. He had quite the sense of humor. I was sooooo happy for Joel and his family when he was finally able to get OFF the road, and move into the office as my dispatcher, and even happier when he discovered another love & line of work, computers. I will also remember the times we shared with Joel & Becky for all their help during our SIDS fundraising events. You have moved onto a better place Joel, and someday I hope to see you again. Your smile & laughter touched me like no one else in this world. I love you and miss you Joel. Bye Puffer

Dave Murphy left a message on July 7, 2009:
My sincere prayer is that God's grace would fill your hearts with the warm memories of a wonderful man. Joel helped me resolve all my computer issues. I work remotely and actually never met Joel. He patiently, methodically and kindly assisted me when I was locked out of the system, encountered error messages or had trouble getting connected. I enjoyed the way he would think out loud as he moved the mouse. He would sometimes take over my machine and I would watch as the cursor traced the flow of his thoughts and pointed to what he was considering. It was like watching notes of a musical score being performed only you could not hear the music. It was poetry none the less. I will miss him.

Barbara Murray left a message on July 7, 2009:
To Joel's Family: I hired Joel at North American Company in January 2005 based on his good friend's recommendation Jeff. I feel we were fortunate to find such a knowledgeable technical person who was also service-oriented. But it wasn't all business with Joel. He enjoyed talking and would stop by my office before he left almost every day for that long commute home. We would talk about the kids, his computers, jewelry, various home projects and most recently about the numerous sunburns he had from doing them. I kidded him about being a slow learner at avoiding them and he just laughed his usual laugh. He shared news about his commute challenges, his train friends, his neighbors and we talked about our moms. Of course, he spoke lovingly of you, Becky and Farah. He was very proud of the ring you gave him, Becky. He was a funny, easy-going and very likeable guy - but then I don't have to tell his family that. I know your heart aches more than words can describe. I pray that in celebrating his life the pain of his death is eased. With Sympathy,

I'm a co-worker of Joel's. He helped us provide voice/audio/It service to our internal. customers. He was the best! He worked hard, laughed often, knew his job inside and out, always found a minute to give needed advice and he was always right. He sat near the window, which containes a plant collection of epic proportions, which he named, The Enchanted Forest. We loved his gentle humor. He was always kind in his treatment of everyone. Our deepest sympathy to his wonderful family, whom he mentioned so often and with such love. Joel will remain in our thoughts and in our prayers.

I am terribly sorry for your sudden loss. Joel was always cherry with a great sense of humor and a warm heart. He will be dearly missed. Joel and I had a friendly relationship here at North American. We had a lot in common - especially the NASCAR stuff and he gave me good advice regarding how Foster Parenting works because of a situation with my daughter helping me put my mind at ease. Also, we worked on a couple of projects together. We chatted frequently when he sat across from me. Even after he moved to another desk location, he would always stop by to talk to me. He always called me Little Miss Sunshine from the movie. I am going to miss that.
