Jerry Lee Akers, age 45, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010 at his home. He is survived by his sons: Nathan, Casey Lee and Noah Akers. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW LOCATION-2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E 113th Ave. Crown Point, IN, with John Starr officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point. Jerry was a 1983 graduate of Crown Point High School. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family. I and my family is sorry to hear of jerry's passing. Our hearts and prayer's go to his family and sons. I went to school with jerry from k thru 12th. Jerry and I played baseball together. We grew up only blocks apart from each other. In later years we would bump into each other and catch up. He always had a smile and his laugh. God bless my friend and rest in peace. To soon to young. we are deeply sorry for your loss

Jerry will always leave a smile on our hearts, my husband Jim will especially miss him. They enjoyed the otdoors together. I knew Jerry before my husband. Jerry brought Jim around to meet our neighborhood friends and there are many good memories. May God take you in his arms and we send much sympathy to all of his son's and family.

Where to begin, almost 23 years ago I met a man named Jerry Akers and fell head over heals in love and now still some 23 years later even though now divorced I had a friend that I loved and shared a son with. Casey is so much like Jerry that sometimes I just have to shake my head in amazement. Jerry left too soon from all of us and though we are all blessed to have known him and loved him, the loss felt is extreme. I know that Jerry will watch over Casey. Having gone to school and worked with Jerry, I can't remember a time when he didn't have a smile on his face. Today the world is a sadder place for his passing. Condolences to the family.

When I heard the news that Jerry had passed away so young, I was shocked. I went to grade school, middle school and high school with Jerry. He was always a good friend, always joking and laughing. I did not know his family but I pray that you all find peace in your hearts for your terrible loss. Jerry was my boyfriend in the second grade and we were convinced we were getting married! I'll always cherish those memories.

As you know, we all of us have just been through this and it was a shock when Tracy called me with this news. I feel very deeply for the family, but so much for the children. Jerry was so kind to me and my family at the end of September. He truly had changed his way of living and I truly admired him for that. He will be missed by his friends and family.

My thought and prayers are with Jerrys children and his entire family. You couldn't meet a better guy than Jerry. I have so many wonderful memories that I will always cherish. His smile, his laugh, and the Jerry Akers Dance will be with me forever. God just got a very special angel. Im going to miss you Jerry. God Bless and may you Rest In Peace

Dear Casey Lee, Please always remember what I told you yesterday...your dad loved you so much, with all his heart. He was always so proud to say he was your dad and took so much pride in the fact that you look so much like him! He was such a good man who had a heart of gold. He was working so hard to do and be the best he could for not only you but for your brothers too. Your dad touched so many hearts. You were so right in saying he had so many friends. There are so many that loved him and we will miss him so much. Keep him close to your heart and he will be with you forever. And remember too... that when and if you ever do play football, he will be there with you. I will always be here for you too, cause I love you too, with all my heart. Teta
