Jerome D. Furst, age 60, of Rensselaer, IN, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Martha Kay Furst of 40 years; son, Bradley (Megan) Furst of W. Lafayette, IN; daughter, Samantha Furst of Rensselaer, IN; grandchildren: Ethan and Isaac; three sisters: Debbie (Ed) Moriarity, Janis Furst and LuAnn (Bill) Gooden; sisters and brothers-in-law: Tami Wall, Melinda Guerrero, Chris Wall and Tim (Sandra) Wall; and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Joyce Furst; brother, Robert; and in-laws: Ted and Goldie Wall.
Jerry worked as a Journeyman Lineman for the Jasper County R.E.M.C. for over 36 years and was an Army Veteran. He loved being with his wife, children and grandchildren. Jerry enjoyed his job, being outside working in the yard and hanging out with family and friends. He loved Jack Daniels and was a proud member of their Tennessee Squire Association.
Cremation Services have been entrusted to Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Jerry’s name to Riley’s Children Hospital, Cardiology Unit, Indianapolis, IN.

"Monumental" as defined by dictionary.com means resembling a monument; massive or imposing; exceptionally great (as in quantity, quality, extent, or degree); of historical or enduring significance; having the quality of being larger than life; of heroic scale.
Jerry was monumental. He was monumental in spirit, in the way he lived and shared, and in the genuine ways he loved and cared. The loss of him is monumental also. I think we'll all grieve and mourn him for some time... because this guy...this guy right here... was loved immeasurably.
Whatta shock! We were all busy cruisin through our lives at 100 miles per hour (OK, well...some of us top out at about 45) and then BAM!!! - our hearts hit a brick wall.
It's like that... you know? When you lose a good one....it's like that. We're all feelin it. The shock. And then the aftershocks.
So we pray for yous Dear Martha, and Bradley, and Sam. We pray for your comfort and peace. Please know we all love you, the whole entire family loves you and we are so sorry this happened. We understand that this is going to be hard, so every one of us would be there should you need us to help you through.
We will all fondly remember your beloved Husband and Father. We'll remember his warmth and goodness, and all of the joys he brought us, and how he made us laugh and smile. He was monumental in our lives...He was a jolly blessing.
