Jerald L. Szemes

Jerald L. Szemes, age 62, of Michigan City, Passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 27, 2010 A memorial service will be held Monday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial of ashes will take place after the service in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. He was born July 26, 1947 in Chicago to Joseph and Isabelle (Spilde) Szemes, his father preceded him in death in 1985, his mother survives in Chesterton. Also surviving is his son Jason (Tara) Szemes of Valparaiso, and brother Michael Szemes, Twin brother John Szemes, and sister Rebecca Szemes, all of Chesterton, niece, Michelle Davis (Szemes) of LaPorte, nephew Eric Burton of TX. and niece Amanda Burton of Chicago Jerald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving in Viet Nam. He was a disabled veteran having received the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal and Navy unit commendation. He was a life member of the D.A.V. Michigan City. Memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V. of Michigan City, and or the family.
