Jeffrey B. Cronin, age 45 of Crown Point, passed away suddenly in his home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
Jeff was born March 19,1975 in Chicago to Jack & Judith Cronin. Jeff graduated from Mount Carmel High School Class of ’94 and then began his career as Local #1 Structural Ironworker, where he put in 23 years of dedicated service.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Kelly (nee Guttillo) , children Jacob (19), Vivian (16), Jeffrey (15), and Vince (13); mother Judith Cronin (nee Grigonis); siblings Jonathan, Jillian (Tom Barrett), Jennifer (John Zimmerman), Lisa (Bill Rogers); his in-laws: Joyce Guttillo, Kim Guttillo, Jim & Cory Guttillo; his loving nephews and nieces: Michael, Ben, Cooper, Jimmy, Alexis, Jessica, and Adriana; and his aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his loving father Jack “Jacko” Cronin and his grandparents.
While it’s the wishes of Jeff’s family to have a memorial service, due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held in the near future when things can be planned. Location and date will be announced.

My daughter Olivia played ice hockey with Jeff's son on the Viking boys when they were pee-wee's. I got to know Jeff and Kelly very well. We would go on out of town hockey trips and shared many, many laughs together. Since then we would run into each other at various rinks and he would always take the time to ask how me and my family are doing and get caught up on our kids and family's. He was the most funny, kind and always sincere. He had the kindest heart and just was so generous and just a solid Man. I will miss running into Jeff. My deepest sympathy to the whole family. I am so, so sorry for your loss. My prayers go out to the family. He will be missed so much.

I remember Jeff well during his playing days at Mount Carmel. After the prep bowl game in '93 at Soldier Field, he gave me his gloves from the game. I hung on to them until my parents moved (which was 7 or 8 years later.) Though he was only 5 years older than me at the time, the players on that team, especially Jeff, seemed like giants. My condolences on Jeffs passing. I new Jeff when we were at Mt. Carmel high school together. I was a senior when he was a sophomore. He was moved up to varsity for the playoffs. Jeff was a darn good football player and a heck of a linebacker.
I hadn't seen him in years when I ran into him at the Morgan Park Ice Rink when he was picking up his son at hockey practice and my daughter was taking skating lessons. I’ve been lucky enough to have the Cronin family in my life for over 30 years. The impact this family has had on my life is indescribable. I saw Jeff in his role as a son, a brother, a friend and a father. His love for his kids was absolutely apparent and I’m so grateful to have seen him at various hockey rinks throughout the years. My condolences on Jeffs passing. I new Jeff when we were at Mt. Carmel high school together. I was a senior when he was a sophomore. He was moved up to varsity for the playoffs. Jeff was a darn good football player and a heck of a linebacker.
I hadn't seen him in years when I ran into him at the Morgan Park Ice Rink when he was picking up his son at hockey practice and my daughter was taking skating lessons. I could immediately tell how proud he was of his children and how happily married he was. God bless you Jeff! My condolences to the Cronin family.
