James F. Gleason Jr., age 76, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Franciscan Health. He was born on November 2, 1947 in Michigan City, to James F. Gleason Sr. and Mildred Riddle.
James is survived by his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Judith (née Barts) Gleason; children: Daniel Gleason and Heidi Ponder; grandchildren: Dylan Gleason, Makayla Gleason, and Cole Ponder; step-brother: Keith (Linda) Miller.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; step-father; Edward Riddle; step-mother: Betty Gleason.
In 1966, James graduated from Elston High School. He was a United States Postal Carrier for 36 years and an avid coin and stamp collector as well as an accomplished guitar player and fur trapper. A Chicago sports fan, you could catch him cheering for the Bears and White Sox. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
Friends are invited to visit with James’s family on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN 46360, with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
