James E. Snyder, Sr., age 94, of Trail Creek, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at St. Anthony Memorial Health Care, Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. John D. Hall officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Mr. Snyder was born December 20, 1914 in Nashville, IN to Courtland M. and Estella (Moore) Snyder, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 18, 1943 in Indianapolis he married Charlotte Smith, she survives in Trail Creek.

Also surviving are daughters Diane (David) Woodruff of Trail Creek, Donna (James) Schendel of Greenville, SC, son James E. Snyder, Jr. of Omaha, NE, grandchildren Adam (Trisha) Schendel, Amanda (Marc) Rocco, Alex Schendel, Sarah (Ken Symons) Woodruff, Bethany (Troy) Johnson and Kristin Woodruff, 6 great-grandchildren; Emma and Abby Schendel, Peyton Rocco, James and David Symons and Heath Johnson, sister Wilma Mundie of Albuquerque, NM, and sister-in-law Sylvia Snyder of OK and Marcella Pecsok of San Diego. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mr. Snyder had been employed with Lockwood Corp. in Gering, NE in quality control until his retirement.
