James Dean Rice, age 67, of Michigan City, died Thursday, September 3 at St. Anthony Memorial. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home.

Mr. Rice was born December 2, 1941 in Mishawaka to James and Bertha (Ross) Rice, both of whom preceded him in death. Surviving is his “wife, LouAnn” whom he would not change if he could, son James, Jr., daughter Diana, son Michael, daughter Kristine, son Douglas, daughters Kimberly and Brenda, sons Bradley and Ryan, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sister Barbara and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rice had been a paint sprayer with Joy Mfg. He was a member of the Michigan City Fish & Game Club and was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears. He loved life and his many animals. He will be dearly missed by his family.

Uncle Jim will be missed dearly. I'm so glad that we were able to bring Dad (Bryan) up to visit with him in March. Who knew that it would be their last time together with Dad passing on May 28th, and now Uncle Jim. The brothers are reunited now on the other side with their parents, three sisters and beloved grandparents, aunts and uncles that went before them. God Bless
