IRENE LAFEVER, age 92 of Portage, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014. Survived by five children: Margaret (late Ken) Southwell, Irene Hoover, Catherine Lafever, David (LuDella) Lafever, Mary Lafever; eight grandchildren: Clint, Ken, and Ryan Southwell, Gina, Matthew, and David Hoover, Shawn and Brandon Lafever; six great-grandchildren: Katie, Steven, and Fiona Southwell, Drake and Brett Southwell, Daphne Lafever; and many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by husband Allen; four brothers: George, Carl, Francis, & Wilbur Halfman; three sisters: Anna Mae Goodman, Marian Wesley, & Lucille Mueller. Mrs. Lafever was a charter member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church and had a very strong faith. She was a proud World War II Army veteran, and served as a caregiver for her mother, father, and other family members. Irene had a great sense of humor and a great love of flowers, especially red flowers. DIRECTLY from Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church (2949 Willowcreek, Portage) with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. There will be visitation at the church one half hour prior to the mass.
