Howard R. Wojahn, age 80 of Merrillville, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010. He was a former employee of Oakley Construction in Hobart, a 1948 graduate of Merrillville High School and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart. Howard was a Corporal in the U.S. Army Infantry, proudly serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Carpenters Local Union 1005, Chicago District Council of Carpenters and Local #1. Howard was also a member of American Legion Merrillville Post #430 and the Merrillville-Ross Township Historical Society. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ralph and Lloyd Wojahn and 2 nephews: Jeffery and Bruce Wojahn. Howard is survived by nieces and nephews: Joanne Jim Dugle, Jim Dottie Wojahn, Jerry Judy Wojahn, Janell Michael Heldt and Sharon Lee Wilson; 16 great nieces and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, Pastor Timothy Engel officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, April 8th from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
