I am sorry to see that Bud has passed. I had the honor to be his guardian on his Honor Flight and the pleasure was absolutely all mine. We both really enjoyed that day, and I’m really glad to have met him. :) I am very sorry for your loss.

Dear Westphal family, I wish to send my deepest sympthany for the passing of your Dad/Grandfather. Steve's parents were always warm and welcoming to us when we were growing up. I will always remember Mr/Mrs Westphal (not sure i saw the when i was old enough to call them by their first names!) so fondly as parents who made growing up in Michigan City a very special place. God best kirk

John P Wentland left a message on February 10, 2021:
To us three Wentland brothers, he was always Uncle Bumpy, but he chose Bud as more respectable in later life. His smile and spirit reflects, like that of our Grandpa "Candy" Westphal, the kind of welcome that makes you feel special every time you meet. Candy and Bud are pictured in 1949 in front of what was for years the Westphal residence on W. 9th Street where we'd stay when our family visited every summer. So many great warm memories. Thanks for those, Bud. You are at peace. We will miss you Uncle Bumpy!

I’ve known the family since 1962. All three of his sons are old friends I grew up with. Bud is a top shelf person along with his wife. I send my deepest sympathy to the family. May God hold him in the palm of his hand until the day you meet again. God Bless you all.
