Henry “Sonny” A. Robbins

Henry “Sonny” A. Robbins, age 69, of Michigan City, died in his home Wednesday, December 9 after a brief illness. He died surrounded by his wife and children. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. memorial service by Moose Family Lodge #980, and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at the church. Entombment will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. He was born January 23, 1940 in Michigan City to Henry A. and Coralbell (Stantz) Robbins, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 8, 1965 he married Sandra J. Diedrich, she survives in Michigan City. Also surviving are his daughters Kim (Jim) Summers and Amy (Mike) Maesch both of Michigan City, son Mark Robbins of LaPorte, grandchildren Stephanie Summers, Stacie Summers, Gina Sebesta, Kara Sebesta, Emily Sebesta, Drew Robbins, Emma Robbins, Isabella Robbins, sisters Shirley Kindig of Temecula, CA, Henrietta (Joe) Felker, LaPorte, Coral Miller, Michigan City, Kathy (Rick) Kennedy, LaPorte, and he was “Uncle Sonny” to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Selma Zimmerman and Norma Foster. He worked at Bethlehem Steel in production for 36 years, retiring in 2002. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Moose Family Lodge #980. After retiring he enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and woodworking. He was known for his quality craftsmanship. He enjoyed working on cars, especially his 60 Corvette which he rebuilt. He enjoyed helping others. He attended every event for his grandchildren and relished being a grandfather.
