Henry “Hank” Crama age 85, of Michigan City, IN died Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10:35 A.M. at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Johns United Church of Christ with Rev. William H. Fine officiating. Visitation will be Monday, May 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlisle Funeral Home. V.F.W. will conduct a Memorial Service Monday evening at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, IN with Full Military Rites by VFW #2536 Henry was born October 26, 1923 in Michigan City, IN to Henry Arie and Gertrude Steffen Crama both whom preceded him death. He married Betty J. Westphal on June 4, 1948 in Michigan City, IN., she survives. Surviving are his daughters Susan Waltz of LaPorte, IN, Kathy (DeVotie) Shaw of South Haven, IN and Debra Homce of Stanley, N.C. Grandchildren: Karen (Ron) Blanchard of Rolling Prairie, IN, Kelly (Corrina Bierlio) Waltz of Ivanhoe, TX., Keith (Becki) Waltz of LaPorte, IN, Ryan Shaw of South Haven, IN, Amanda Homce of Stanley, N.C. Great Grandchildren: Cody Waltz , Kevin, Kyle and Austin Blanchard of Rolling Prairie, IN. Morgan Waltz, Whittney and Sandra Bierlio of Ivanhoe, TX; Sister Rose (Warren) Dankert of Michigan City, IN Brother-in-Law: Earl Williams. He was preceded in death by a brother Herman Crama and Sisters Leona Mansfield, Norma Krassow and Mary Williams. 2 nephews amd a niece. Henry worked at Allis/Chalmers for 40 years as a assembler and welder. He built homes with his brother-in-law Roger Westphal, worked at Cadence Environmental Energy, Inc. for 25 years. He was Navy veteran serving during W.W. II in the European and African Theater, and then volunteered his services again for the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful and devoted member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, was a usher, working the rummage sales and fish fry. Also a member of V.F.W. Post #2536. He was a handy man, loved carpentry, welding, gardening, helping other people and making bread. Memorial contributions may be to St Johns United Church of Christ or St. Anthony Hospice.
