Helen Krebes

HELEN (nee BIRO) KREBES age 89 of Merrillville and a former lifelong resident of Gary passed away Saturday January 13 2007. She was born in Gary on October 5 1917 to Sandor & Verona Biro. Survived by sister Margaret ( nee) Biro Booshak of Merrillville devoted niece Audrey K. (Gregory) Mitchell of Portage numerous loved nieces nephews and friends and their families from here and other areas. Preceded in death by husband John F. Krebes. Helen & John were both longtime members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she also belonged to the Rosary Sodality. Helen was a graduate of Froebel High School Class of 1934 and played in the Froebel Orchestra. She was a retired secretary from the Gary School Corporation and a former member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Unit #1563. Helen was an avid reader and her and John enjoyed traveling. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville on Monday from 2-8 P.M. with a prayer service at 3:00 P.M. and a Rosary Sodality Rosary at 3:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 16 2007 at 9:30 A.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 A.M. from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (1775 W. 41st Ave. Gary) with Msgr. John Siekierski officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or to the SS. Peter & Paul Building Transformation Fund.
