Gertrude V. Lewandowski

GERTRUDE V. LEWANDOWSKI age 90 passed away Friday January 14 2011. She was born February 22 1920 in Gary IN to John and Virginia (Murawski) Dombrowski. She was the beloved wife and dance partner of her husband Raymond who preceded her in death on April 20 1987. She was a life-long area resident and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Merrillville. She is survived by daughters Cindy (Tom) Kwiatkowski and Melody (Edward) McCormick. Granddaughter Kristin Campbell. Brother Alfred (Kay) Dombrowski Brother-in-law Clark Lembke and sister-in-law Ann Dombrowski and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband parents siblings and their spouses: Celia (John) Butters Eleanor (Art) Ashby Irene (Willis) Miller Wanda Lembke Clara Wesselhoft Eugene Dombrowski and Edwin Dombrowski. Gertie was an accomplished seamstress and a superb cook and loved to bake her goodies for her family and friends. Her occupations include working at Bear Brand Hosiery Slicks Laundry Kingsbury Ammunition Plant Sheet and Tin Mill Bookkeeper for her husbands business Quality Heating and Air Conditioning and Beautician. She enjoyed playing bingo knitting crocheting tatting and numerous other crafts. Her hands were always busy. Family and Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 6360 Broadway Merrillville IN on Monday January 17 2011 from 2:00 pm to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:15 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 18 2011 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church 5885 Harrison Street Merrillville with Rev. Roy Beeching officiating. There will be a half-hour visitation prior to the services at church. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Schererville. She will be sadly missed by her family and those that knew and loved her.
