Frederick A. Meyer , age 83 of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Park Forest, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN. He is survived by his wife: Hildegard Son: Barry Laurie Meyer of Homewood, IL Daughter: Alta Kirk Eberhart of Crown Point, IN Grandchildren: Jesse Meyer, Heide & Gregory Eberhart and Heather Hanes-Ruge. Mr. Meyer was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served in WWII. He lived and worked in New York for a number of years before moving to Park Forest in 1960. He owned and operated the Fred Meyer Photography Studio in Downtown Chicago until his retirement in 1990. He was an active member of the Park Forest Photography Club. There was a private family viewing followed by cremation at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN. I'm a day early, but many years short. Opa taught me so much. Chess, piano, the allure of magic, and occasionally the tricks of it. He didn't because it can't be taught teach me the eye of a photographer, but I like to think I have an eye for it because of him. I wish I had learned more, paid more attention...been more interested... ...but then again, I wish he were still here. I write this listening to Handle, which may not have been his favorite, but I think he'd approve. My Opa's son is an incredible father. My Opa's wife is a great woman, and...my Opa was an amazing man. I miss you, Opa, and my thoughts are of you. Unicorns.
