Faye Sellis of Melbourne, Florida formerly of Munster, IN, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009. Faye was born in Gary, Indiana on March 13, 1950 to John and Mary Thanos Bizanes. Faye married George Sellis, of Achladokambos Greece at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, Indiana. George and Faye had two children, Damen and Maria, and celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this past June 24. They moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1989. Faye was a graduate of Wirt High School and Purdue University where she majored in social work. Faye was an active member of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Florida and a long time member and past president of the women's philanthropic society, the Philoptochos. Faye was preceded in death by her son Damen Sellis and father John Bizanes. Faye is survived by her loving family which includes her beloved husband, George; her daughter, Maria Jonathon Allen and the joy of her life, granddaughter: Faye Morgan Allen all of Florida; her mother, Mary Bizanes; brother, Bill Maryanne Bizanes; sister, Suzanne William Van Cleef all of Crown Point, IN; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law and their respective families to whom Faye was very close throughout her life; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at 10:00a.m. directly at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville. Reverend Theodore Poteres, officiating. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Friends may visit with the family, Thursday, April 2nd from 2:00p.-8:00p.m at the Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 5:00p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Faye Sellis Memorial Fund; envelopes available at Geisen Funeral Home.
