EVELYNE ANNE CHARITON (nee Cherechinsky), age 92 of Crown Point, passed away in the early morning hours of June 5, 2015. Evelyne was born on April 27, 1923 to Adolph and Bertha Cherechinsky in Hammond. She met and married her beloved husband, Alfred Frederick Chariton (1923 – 1978). Preceded in death by her siblings: Adolph, Otto, Egon, and Adeline. She lives on through her four children: Fred Chariton, Claudia (Chariton) Jannasch Hauer, Constance (Chariton) Ruehl, and Curtis Chariton; daughter-in-law, Katherine (Brady) Chariton; and sons-in-law: Terry Ruehl and Mike Hauer; four grandchildren: Jeff and Jon Chariton, and Alex and Bridgette Ruehl; four great-grandchildren: Lucas, Emberly, Linus, and Malina Chariton. Evelyne graduated from Clark High School at the age of 16 and studied chemistry at Indiana University. She went on to work as an investigator for the federal government, retiring at age 72. She was a devoted and loving mother and friend, an avid jazz lover and member of the Illiana Jazz Club. Friends and family will forever remember her toast to “more money and Kansas City and fall…” Evelyne was also a member of the Homemakers Club. Graveside services for family and friends will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery, Crown Point. Arrangements by Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, Crown Point.
