Eugene C. Hosfeld, age 89, of Cedar Lake, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN. He is survived by his wife: Lorna of 64 years; 3 sons: Eugene C. Jr. “Terry” Diane Hosfeld of Crown Point, IN, James A. Hosfeld of Valparaiso, IN, and Kenneth A. Ana Imai Hosfeld of Coral Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren: Eugene C. Hosfeld III “Chip”, Noelle Joel Nicolas, Beth Hosfeld, David J. Hosfeld, Jamie J. Hosfeld, Benjamin R. Hosfeld, Ian P. Consuelo Hosfeld, Anna C. Hosfeld, Elizabeth J. Hosfeld, Marco A. Hosfeld, and Luiz F. Hosfeld; 2 great-grandchildren: Skyler Sheck and Nathan Hosfeld; 1 brother: Glenn Louise Hosfeld; numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Family friend: Sandy Robbins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, NOTE: NEW LOCATION at 606 E. 113th Ave. 2 blocks east of Broadway, Crown Point, IN with John Starr officiating. Interment at The City of Crown Point Historic Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point, IN. Friends may visit with the family at the Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre on Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Eugene was born on July 4, 1919 in Newville, Pennsylvania and attended Newville High School, where he graduated in 1939. Eugene helped build the Pennsylvania Turn Pike and was a World War II Army Veteran serving in Italy. He was retired as a supervisor from U.S. Steel Tube Works with over 30 years of service, was an avid gardener, and traveled the world extensively visiting family in foreign nations throughout Europe and South America. Eugene will be missed by all who loved him. Memorials may be given to The Heart Association.
