EUGENE GENEB. BINDER age 73 of Portage passed away Thursday April 3 2008. Survived by wife of 46 years Dorothy (nee Hentschel) son Brian (Beth) Binder of Naperville IL five grandchildren: Zachary Luke and Megan Gipson Benjamin and Samuel Binder son-in-law Mark (Debbie) Gipson of Chesterton IN cousin Greta Cadzow and Aunt Sara Binder both of Canada many nieces and nephews and extended family in Germany. Preceded in death by parents Andrew John and Marie (Gutt) Binder infant brother John daughter Brenda Ann (Binder) Gipson. Gene was a faithful attendee at Community Bible Church Portage. He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School Class of 1952 and received his B.S. Degree from Wittenberg University Ohio Class of 1956. He was a retired production scheduler from Bethlehem Steel with 32 years of service a member of Saxon Lodge Branch 40 and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was an Army veteran having served in the Signal Corps in Germany. Genes favorite music was the Bill Gaither Singers and he was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddy Jim and spending time with his lifetime kindergarten friends Nick and Ron. Grandpa Binder especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren Luke and Megans sporting events and Zacharys theatre performances. Gene was a loving and gentle man and will be missed. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service 2700 Willowcreek Rd. Portage Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday April 7 2008 DIRECTLY from Community Bible Church 2748 Willowdale Rd. Portage with Pastor Jim Thompson officiating. There will be visitation prior to service at the church. At rest McCool Cemetery Portage. Memorials preferred to the family or Community Bible Church Scholarship Fund. He left his earthly home and now rests in eternal peace.

Was sorry to hear about Genes passing. I do remember our ties with Hope and Frank Jeannette and David. I hope this way of thinking of death brings you some small comfort as it did me. Kathy Lundstrom Death is God carrying us in one of His arms while the other flings aside heavens door to welcome us back to the blazing hearth of our first home. While those inside having arrived long before us rush to the door like glad children shouting: theyre here! Death has a bad name on earth but in heaven its a homecoming party everytime the door opens. God does not forget His earth bound children sad and left behind. He leaves the party early to enter into their despair and to get them ready for their own parties someday.

It was always fun and a pleasure working with Gene at Bethlehem. We (the office ) knick named him Gene Gene the dancing machine. Chuck Knew him from the 160 plate mill. He was always a gentlemen and a good worker. I enjoyed our phone calls - he was a character. May he rest in peace without pain. He loved Dorthy alot. He talked of Brendas children with pride. His new pride are Brians twins. I know he would like Luke to play golf with his clubs. He will be watching and proud. Friends Chuck & Brenda Combi
