Estelle B. Galanos (nee Bizanes), age 93, of Merrillville, IN, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024. She is survived by her children, Mary, Bill and Helen; grandchildren, Helena (Steven), Estelle (Kyle), Gus, Chris, and Aristotle; great-granddaughter, Eleni; and daughter-in-law, Belinda. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Gus; son, John; fiancé, Dan; sister, Dorothy; and brothers, Gust and John. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

Estelle was a proud graduate of Emerson High School where she passed on many heartwarming stories of growing up in Gary. She worked for the Lake County Auditor’s Office for about 25 years. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, going to plays, dining out, and watching television shows and scary movies. She was such a great cook and was generous enough to share her recipes. She enjoyed going to Active Day and spending time with her caregivers at home.

Estelle’s home was always open to family and friends. Her greatest love was her family.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Geisen-Pruzin Funeral & Cremation Services, 6360 Broadway Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Trisagion will be at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville, IN 46410.

Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Estelle’s name to Cancer Research.
