Erna Gutekunst, age 90, of Chesterton, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at VNA Hospice, Valparaiso, IN. The service will be held Wednesday, January 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Kevin Palmer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery, Chicago at 11:00 a.m Saturday, January 16. Carlisle Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. She was born July 30, 1919 in Chicago, daughter of the late Rudolf and Olga (Schindel) Mundt, beloved wife of the late Armin Gutekunst, dear mother of Susan (David) Huelsman, loving grandmother to David A. Huelsman, Stephanie (Shannon) Blackfeather, and Matthew (Stephanie) Huelsman, proud great-grandmother of Aida Rene, Joshua and Maya Huelsman and Christian Blackfeather. Dear sister of the late Alice (George) Albers, Herbert (Bobbie), Leonard (Alma), Walter (Tecla) and Robert (Elsie) Mundt. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erna Gutekunst Endowment, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Michigan City, or St. Philip Lutheran Church, 5700 Bryn Mawr Ave., Chicago, or the Armin P. Gutekunst Endowment, Concordia College, Chicago.
