Elsa Velasco

ELSA VELASCO, age 59 of Portage, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020.

She is survived by her two daughters: Elsa Valle and Jessica (Shane) Bower; three grandchildren: Trystin, Teyvaun, & Phoenix; her siblings, nieces, nephews, and good friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents Jesus & Maria Velasco.

Elsa was a faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.  She was a graduate of Portage High School, Class of 1978 and a graduate of Don Roberts Beauty School.  She worked many years at Valpo University as a housekeeper and in the kitchen at Aberdeen Manor.  Elsa was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  Faith and family meant everything to her.  A very special thank you goes to Lorena & Raul Mejia for all their special care and love given during her period of illness.

While it was Elsa’s wish to have a traditional Mass of Christian Burial for all of her family and friends, a private Mass was held due to COVID-19 and she was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
