Elizabeth M. Cowgill-Hudkins, age 81, of Michigan City, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at St. Anthony Memorial Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Carlisle Funeral Home, with Pastor Kim COle officating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the services. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Hudkins was born April 25, 1928 in South Bend, Indiana to Carl F. and Bessie Zahrndt, both whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond C. Cowgill Sr. and Edward Hudkins.
Surviving are her children Larry (Barbara) Cowgill of Michigan City, Raymond C. Cowgill Jr. of Michigan City, Vicki (Randy) Nulf of LaPorte, Karen (Roger) Herrbach of New Buffalo, and Pamela (Okey Jr.) Akers of Milton, Wa. Also 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and her sister Delores Troutmiller of South Bend, Brother’s, Carl E. Zahrndt of Florida, Kenny (Betty) Zahrndt of New Hampshire. Many nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death, by sisters Dora Hendricks, Mary Ann Miller and Henrietta Walesiewicz, and her great grandson Wyatt Herrbach.
Mrs. Hudkins retired from the Michigan City Area Schools Food Service program in 1991 after many years of service.
She was past president and 3rd District Auxiliary President for the American Legion, unit 37. Past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose #935. Member of Ladies Auxillary of VFW #2536. Also Past President of the Coolspring Fire Fly’s She was also an avid bowler. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
