Elizabeth Jean Wirtz nee O'Connor, age 87, of Cedar Lake, IN, formerly of Ottawa, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010. She is survived by her son: Philip Wirtz Jr. of Cedar Lake, IN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Philip Wirtz Sr. and 3 sisters: Mary Price, Dorothy O'Connor, and Eleanor Kelly. Funeral prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:30 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW LOCATION-2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E 113th Ave. Crown Point, IN, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 E. Joliet St., Crown Point, IN, with Fr. Ed Tlucek officiating. Cremain burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Crown Point, IN, at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN. Mrs. Wirtz was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake, IN. She was retired from St. Anthony Hospital as one of the original dieticians and was a member of the Dietetic Association, the Diabetes Association, and the Arthritis Association. Elizabeth loved to needle point and knit. Memorial contributions may be given to the Diabetes Association.
