Elizabeth A. Farthing, age 94 of Gary, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. She is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Paul Simons; 2 grandchildren: Paul Wesley Olivia Simons and Elizabeth Simons; four nephews and other relatives. Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Farthing and son, Raymond Farthing. Liz was born December 18, 1915 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the former owner of Wagner's Grocery and Filling Station. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM directly at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 5375 Harrison St., Merrillville, with Rev. Andrew Bailey officiating. Interment to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary. Friends may visit with the family at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Liz's name to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
