Eileen L. Vogt

Eileen L. Vogt, age 87 formerly of Gary, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Towne Centre in Merrillville. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Griffith, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary Dunes Post # 279. Eileen and her husband, Lee, owned World's Best Aluminum for over 30 years. She also enjoyed working in her later years at JoAnn Fabrics, JC Penney's and Fannie May Candies; but her biggest joy was her family. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Lee L. Vogt; mother, Olive Glenn; brother, Amos Deere, Jr.; daughter, Donna Merritt and daughter-in-law, Nora Marlin. Eileen is survived by children: Wes Marlin of Portage, Sherilee Doug Speer of PA; and Cindy Dennis Swender of Griffith; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Phil Peggy Deere of FL and numerous nieces & nephews Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
