Edwin Gardner, age 98, of Crown Point, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Colonial Nursing Home. Edwin is survived by his step-daughter, Donna the late Jack Ewing of Crown Point; 3 step-grandchildren; 7 great-step-grandchildren; 6 great-great-step-grandchildren; 1 brother, Felix Lucile Gardner of Hammond; 2 sisters: Ernestine Arville Brasher and Evelyn Parker, both of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre NOTE: NEW LOCATION-2 blocks east of Broadway at 606 E 113th Ave. Crown Point, IN, with John Starr officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 4 to 7 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre. Edwin was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Fred Schmidt Post 20, Crown Point, the Masonic Lodge Lowell, and the VFW Lowell. He was retired from Inland Steel after over 29 years of service. Memorials may be given to Unity Hospice. So sad to hear of Edwin's passing. We met him at the nursing home where my mother was and we fell in love with Edwin right away. He had the best smile and his eyes would just sparkle when we would stop in to say hello to him and visit with him. He was a good man and is not in pain or any discomfort anymore. We will miss you Edwin. Bless your heart and peace always with you.
