Edward R. Hall, 66, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at St. Anthony Memorial, after a lengthy and severe illness.Mr. Hall was born December 23, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Edward Francis and Catherine (Phelan) Hall. A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlisle Funeral home followed by a private reception afterwards, with Pastor Jon Pairitz officiating.Ed was the father of five children, Edward B. (Melissa) Hall, Bryan Hall, Tim (Traci) Hall, Reggie Hall, and Melodye Jeanine Hall. He had one granddaughter, Krista Hall. Ed has four surviving nieces and nephews. His career included IBM in Essex Junction, Vt., Ivy Tech/adjunct professor, electrical engineering technology, and Bethlehem Steel/instrument engineer. Ed retired prematurely due to illness in 1986. Ed was a member of the Michigan City World Wide Church of God for over 30 years.As a Christian the verse that kept him going, knowing he was saved, by faith in Jesus Christ, was (Rm. 8:15-17) “For you …. did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, Abba, Father. “The Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His Glory.”He loved technology and was a long time Michigan City computer club member. Most importantly Ed was a quiet and loving man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Memorial contributions may be made
