Edward John Talaga

EDWARD JOHN TALAGA age 88 of Merrillville passed away Friday March 31 2006. He was born on May 13 1917 the oldest of 8 children. At the age of 18 his parents died tragically leaving him the responsibility of keeping the young family connected. Despite their seperation amongst several different locations they still remain close to this day. In 1938 he married Helen Momot with whom he owned & managed Talagas Food Mart in Gary IN for over 20 years. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Silver Bell Club Lodge #2365. A beloved man of high integrity his kind and generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Survived by loving wife Helen of 67 years son Dr. Thomas (Mary) Talaga of Traverse City MI formerly of Michigan City IN daughter Bonnie (Wally) Nawrocki of Northglen CO sisters Wanda Syring & Helen Gru and brothers Henry Talaga Brother Rudolph Talaga C.S.C. and Fred Nawrocki 6 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by sister Rose Nalbor & brother Walter Talaga. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 5 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 11:30 A.M. from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church (5885 Harrison St. Merrillville) with Rev.
