Thank you, Ed, for your long-time service to older Hoosiers as a member of the Indiana Commission on Aging. The Board of Directors and staff of the Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging appreciate your commitment to ensuring that COA continued to play an active role in advising the state's policies on long-term services and supports over the years. Personally, I enjoyed our many lunchtime conversations and am thankful to have had your support. To the Gottschling family, you have our sympathies on Ed's passing, and we wish you peace and comfort as you celebrate the blessing that Ed was to the world.

We are sorry to hear about Eddie passing away. I remember when he used to go to the Country Lounge and meet with the boys from Talliston High School. I sat with Eddie at the funeral home for Paul Geist and Eddie were paulbearers for Paul's funeral. He was such a nice guy. Our condolences to the family. Sincerely, Joe Benjamin, President of Hunky Hollow.

I worked at Berkes Paint Store when I was a kid and I remember Nina always making iced tea and lemonade for me on a hot day. I could not attend the wake because of medical reasons. God Bless you all.

Danny and Laura, Please accept our condolences on the passing of your father. From Barb and Danny's stories over the years, we know he was a truly great person, who was deeply loved by his family. The love and warmth we see in Danny, and the way he cares for Barb, is surely a reflection of traits passed down from your father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Amy and Kenny

Carl Fisher left a message on May 9, 2018:
Because I will be out of town, I am unable to attend Ed's funeral service. I had the privilege of being Portage's Park Superintendent for 25 years, and for many of those years I had a significant amount of interaction with Ed. I have deep respect and admiration for Ed because he was honest, dependable, a man of his word, clear about what his position was on any issue, and a progressive thinker. He was truly a dedicated public servant, and he really cared about Portage. The City of Portage has lost a very good friend, who has left behind a lasting legacy. Respectfully, Carl Fisher
